John Garland is a fantasy author, IT Librarian and Dungeon master (lapsed).  He is responsible for penning Daemons of Arassia, the first in a new series of novels set in the mythical Empire of Arassia.

John has worked as a bookseller, IT Trainer, computer engineer at a TV station, barman, and web designer. He spent six months working in Hong Kong and travelling in China.

He ran the Fantasy and Science Fiction department for Waterstone’s in Maidstone, where he was lucky enough to run events for David Gemmell, Terry Pratchett, Tad Williams, Tom Holt, Stephen Lawhead and Iain M Banks (picking up numerous dodgy nicknames along the way – don’t ask!).

In common with Raymond Feist, Katherine Kerr and Terry Pratchett he is an experienced games master, well-versed in storytelling and world building. He was a member of the historical re-enactment group Regia Angolorum, so has really worn armour, fought in hand to hand combat, and even shot an apple off a monk’s head!.

John has written a number of short stories, and is currently working on book two of the Arassia series, Myths of Arassia. He has also published a travel article describing his journey around New Zealand in a campervan with his wife, children’s author Paula Haughey.
